Berlin meets Buenos Aires
This year is the 20th anniversary of the sister-city arrangement between Buenos Aires and Berlin. It is a solemn occasion for Berlin’s Mayor Klaus Wowereit to travel to Buenos Aires and to celebrate this jubilee together with his counterpart, Mauricio Macri. On March 31 at 7 p.m., an anniversary event under the motto “Berlin LIVE: Berlin meets Buenos Aires” will be opened by the city government of Buenos Aires, the capital’s marketing campaign be Berlin, visitBerlin and selected actors from Berlin and Buenos Aires in the Centro Metropolitano de Diseño CMD, the city’s design center.
From March 31 to April 9, the CMD will provide space for exciting exhibitions and presentations from Berlin as well as cooperation projects between Berlin and Buenos Aires such as: an art exhibition with the title “Icon and symbols of cultural identity. Buenos Aires – Berlin.” by the IDBerlin, an extraordinary concept of food production and urban development presented by the Markthalle Neun from Berlin-Kreuzberg, an exhibition of design objects “made in Berlin” by the International Design Festival Berlin DMY and many other projects. In the evening of March 31, the LiCHTPiRATEN will present the old fish market hall in the CMD in a whole new light, accompanied by Argentinian tango dancers.
Everyone in Buenos Aires who is interested in Berlin is cordially invited to attend this opening event within the scope of “Berlin LIVE: Berlin meets Buenos Aires” on March 31 and to experience and celebrate 20 years of successful cooperation.
Those who are particularly interested can listen to lectures on different topics related to Berlin.

Reapertura Biblioteca Goethe
Queridos lectores y amigos de la
biblioteca:
Tras una larga pausa de verano, abrimos
nuestras puertas el lunes 24 de febrero y estamos muy contentos de poder volver
a recibirlos. Ese día, la biblioteca permanecerá abierta de 16:00 a 19:00.
En este intervalo cambiaron muchas cosas.
Redujimos, renovamos y reordenamos nuestros materiales, y ganamos espacio.
También sumamos a nuestro equipo una nueva colega, Laura Nicolás. Además,
nuestros horarios de apertura se extendieron para que puedan hacer un uso más
prolongado de nuestros servicios. En el archivo adjunto pueden encontrar los
nuevos horarios de apertura y las condiciones de uso y préstamo modificadas.
Aun si en un principio pueden sorprenderse
con la “nueva“ “vieja“ biblioteca, creemos estar siguiendo el camino correcto
con esta remodelación, que todavía sigue su curso.
Nuestra meta es hacer de la biblioteca del
Goethe-Institut un lugar de encuentro y de intercambio, en el que uno se sienta
a gusto y en el que, por medio de la literatura y de otras actividades, pueda
sumergirse en la cultura alemana.

Liebe Leser und Freunde der Bibliothek,
nach der langen Sommerpause öffnen wir am 24. Februar erneut
unsere Pforten und freuen uns sehr, sie wieder bei uns begrüßen zu können. Ab 16
Uhr bis 19 Uhr ist die Bibliothek an diesem Tag geöffnet.
Es hat sich in der Zwischenzeit vieles verändert. So haben
wir unseren Bestand reduziert und erneuert, umgestellt und Platz geschaffen.
Ebenfalls bereichert eine neue Kollegin, Laura Nicolás, unser Team. Auch unsere
Öffnungszeiten wurden ausgedehnt, so dass sie unseren Service ausgiebiger nutzen
können. Die neuen Öffnungszeiten und die veränderten Benutzungsbedingungen
finden sie im beigefügtem Anhang.
Auch wenn sie womöglich im ersten Moment überrascht von der
„neuen“ „alten“ Bibliothek sein werden, so glauben wir doch mit der noch
anhaltenden Umgestaltung, auf dem richtigen Weg zu sein.
Unser Gedanke ist es, in Zukunft mit der Bibliothek des
Goethe - Instituts, einen Ort der Begegnung und des Austausches zu schaffen, an
dem man gern verweilt und über Literatur und durch Veranstaltungen in die
deutsche Kultur eintaucht.

In her second feature film "Draussen ist Sommer" ("Summer Outside"), director Friederike Jehn tells a coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of a home crisis: The family of 14-year-old Wanda – played by Maria-Victoria Dragus, who won the German Film Award for her performance in "Das weiße Band" ("The White Ribbon") – tries to start over in Switzerland. Yet soon, the old conflicts between her parents (Nicolette Krebitz and Wolfram Koch) resurface, and the big house with the wild garden seems like an unfittingly beautiful stage for the sad decline of a relationship. While Wanda stubbornly clings to the illusion of harmony and fights for her family to stay together, she also has her first encounters with the opposite sex – not all of which are pleasant. In evocative images which create an enchanted atmosphere, Jehn tells of the emotional limbo between childhood and coming-of-age. Despite its melancholic undertones, "Draussen ist Sommer" is far from being a depressing film – mainly thanks to its powerful protagonist Wanda, whose defiant attitude and growing self-confidence is breathtakingly conveyed be the stellar Maria-Victoria Dragus.

El ángulo es distinto, pero se ve perfectamente la fuente central, y que faltan los árboles de alrededor, que formaban parte de un gran jardín lleno de plantas y flores.
No puedo dar más detalles para no comprometer a su ocupante, pero así es la cosa.
O no como era entonces.

Trabajar enseñando español en Alemania
Según todos los estudios, el español es uno de los idiomas que más están pegando en todo el mundo, sobretodo en Norteamérica, pero también en Europa. Parece que cada vez son más las personas interesadas en aprender nuestra lengua, que por otra parte es una de las más habladas del planeta ya de por sí, gracias a Latinoamérica sobre todo. Ese deseo de aprender español también se da en Alemania, aunque nos pueda parecer extraño. Sí, no solo nosotros estamos tratando de aprender su idioma para encontrar trabajo allí. A los alemanes siempre les ha atraído España, y se interesan mucho por la cultura, el folklore y el idioma.

Nueva directora de la Biblioteca del Instituto Goethe

Quisiéramos compartir con ustedes la noticia de que a partir del mes
de agosto la biblioteca tiene una nueva directora.
Su nombre es Andrea Bélafi y se ha desempeñado anteriormente
en las ciudades de Tel Aviv, Riga y Múnich.
